Key Qualifications:
- Current license or certification to teach Special Education
- Experience with middle school-age students preferred
- Previous work in self-contained classrooms serving severe/profound disabilities strongly desired
- Proficiency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working closely with support staff and families
- Commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction aligned to each student’s IEP goals
- Foster a supportive classroom culture that ensures the physical and emotional safety of all students
- Use evidence-based strategies to address academic, behavioral, and social needs
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and general education staff
- Maintain accurate documentation for IEPs, progress reports, and daily data logs
- Communicate regularly with families to support student growth and progress
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff development, and required trainings
