Special Education Teacher in Lafayette, TN

As a vital member of the student support team, you'll serve as the IEP case manager for approximately 95 students across grades 6 to 8. Your expertise will empower both general education and special education teachers to deliver effective accommodations and modifications, ensuring all learners achieve their fullest potential. This position currently involves no direct classroom teaching, allowing you to focus on individualized education program (IEP) management, classroom observation, and providing targeted assistance.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:
- Collaborating closely with general education and special education staff
- Supporting teachers with strategies and interventions for inclusive practices
- Observing students in various classrooms to assess needs and recommend adjustments
- Maintaining and managing all aspects of IEP documentation, meetings, and compliance
- Serving as a resource and advocate for students with disabilities and their families
The ideal candidate brings:
- Valid Tennessee certification as a Special Education teacher for grades 6-8 (endorsement codes 144-145)
- Experience in IEP development and case management, especially at the middle school level
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
