Special Education Teacher - Lakeville, MN

This contract-based role serves multiple school sites. Full-time positions are offered at RiverEast Day School and Highland Park Middle School, each supporting around 20 students and complemented by behavioral and paraeducator aides. Part-time roles (at Highland Park Elementary and an additional location TBD) allow for flexible arrangements—ideal for educators seeking variety or work-life balance. Additionally, an early childhood opening is available, including fulfilling at-home visits to support the youngest learners and their families.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Minnesota teaching license required
- Background in special education; experience in similar settings highly valued
- Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including paraeducators and behavioral aides
- Confidence managing case loads and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills for engaging with families, students, and staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Work closely with aides and specialists to create a supportive classroom environment
- Manage IEP development, compliance, and documentation
- Foster positive relationships with students and their families
- For early childhood roles: conduct home visits, support family engagement, and ensure developmental milestones are addressed
