As the lead teacher, you’ll work closely with a small class of approximately 8-10 students, each requiring individualized attention and instruction. You’ll also have the partnership of a dedicated paraprofessional to help facilitate classroom management and provide behavioral intervention support.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Special Education (SPED) EC-12 teaching license for Texas
- Background in special education teaching, particularly at the elementary level (1st–5th grade)
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong classroom management skills and expertise in behavioral strategies
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment for students with varying abilities
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction tailored to the individual needs of each student
- Lead and participate in IEP meetings, goal-setting, and progress monitoring for students
- Implement effective classroom routines and manage student behavior with positive interventions
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, support staff, and parents to ensure comprehensive student care
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting consistent with district and state standards
- Foster a supportive and growth-oriented classroom environment
