This contract position offers you the opportunity to contribute your expertise to a supportive educational environment, working with students in grades 9 through 12. You’ll provide instruction, guidance, and encouragement to high schoolers with unique learning needs in a full-time setting—37.5 hours per week—from ASAP through the Extended School Year (ESY).
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching license for high school, with Adaptive Special Education Certification required
- Prior experience teaching in a self-contained or adaptive classroom environment preferred
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs), differentiated instruction, and classroom management for diverse learning needs
- Skilled in fostering supportive and structured learning spaces
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver adaptive curriculum and individualized instruction to high school students in a self-contained classroom
- Implement and track IEP goals, adapting teaching strategies to support each learner’s progress
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff
- Engage with families and guardians to support student achievement and growth
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and reporting
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive environment where every student feels safe and supported
