Embark on an exciting contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting students in the vibrant communities surrounding North Denver. Positions are available for the 2026-2027 school year across several elementary and middle schools in the area. Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Colorado Department of Education license with Special Education endorsement
- Previous experience working with students with significant autism and non-verbal communication needs; proficiency with AAC devices is highly beneficial
- Expertise in managing challenging behaviors and crises, with strong data-driven implementation skills
- Familiarity with elementary and middle school age groups
- Comfortable building life skills and supporting students’ daily routines
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals, specialized service staff, and other educators
- Exceptional communication and leadership when managing groups of adults
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction in self-contained and center-based classrooms, adapting curriculum for K-2nd graders (Structured Learning Services) and significant support (SSN, Affective Needs) settings
- Design and implement individualized education programs that promote life skills, social-emotional growth, and academic progress
- De-escalate unsafe behaviors and foster a safe, supportive classroom atmosphere
- Collect and analyze data to inform instruction and intervention strategies
- Collaborate closely with classroom teams, including 3+ paraprofessionals and additional specialist support
