Special Education Teacher | Maple Grove, Minnesota
Step into a rewarding opportunity to empower students as a Special Education Teacher specializing in Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) for the upcoming academic year. In this contract position, you'll be actively engaged during regular school hours, Monday through Friday, supporting a small, focused caseload of approximately nine students. Using your expertise and dedication, you'll deliver individualized instruction to foster growth in academic, social, and functional skills.
Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Teaching Certification (Tier 3 or Tier 4 required)
- Demonstrated experience or training in Special Education, specifically supporting students with developmental cognitive disabilities
- Strong interpersonal abilities to collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff
- Comfort adapting curriculum and strategies to tackle diverse learning needs
- Excellent organization and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student on your caseload
- Provide direct instruction as outlined in student IEPs, focusing on academic and life skills development
- Work closely with general education teachers to support inclusion and student success
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with families regarding progress and program goals
- Document progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations for special education
