This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to contribute meaningfully throughout the academic year at a single campus in the Mesquite area. You will either be supporting a life skills classroom, autism classroom, inclusion setting, behavior classroom, or a medically fragile unit—there’s room to match a caseload with your expertise and preferences.
Key Qualifications:
- Accredited bachelor’s degree required
- Valid Texas Special Education (EC-12) teaching certificate
- Experience supporting diverse student needs in special education settings
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work on-site (remote/VOCO work is not available)
- Must complete TEA fingerprinting prior to start date, unless already cleared recently
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver customized instruction and support in an inclusion, life skills, behavioral, or medically fragile classroom
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, therapists, and school nurses (particularly in the medically fragile unit)
- Develop, implement, and track Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain detailed, timely documentation on student progress and communications
- Foster a positive, structured, and encouraging classroom environment
- Actively engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development
Opportunities are available at seven elementary campuses with caseloads tailored to your preference—choose from inclusion classrooms, behavior support, life skills, autism, or medical needs environments.
You’ll be working a steady 37.5-hour week from August to May, supporting students’ learning journeys in a single, supportive elementary school community.
