Special Education Teacher - Mesquite, TX

Several openings are available across multiple elementary campuses, all focused on providing individualized attention and fostering growth in specialized classroom settings.
In this contract position starting August 11, 2026 and running through May 28, 2027, you’ll work a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week at one assigned elementary school. Teachers are needed for various caseloads, including self-contained Total Language Classrooms (small group rotations), Behavior Classrooms, and a Medically Fragile Unit, each offering unique opportunities to create meaningful connections and positive outcomes for students aged PreK-5th grade.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Valid Texas Special Education (EC-12) teaching certificate
- Experience or strong interest in life skills, autism support, severe behavior, or medically fragile student settings
- Flexibility to indicate preferred classroom environment and site locations for consideration
- Commitment to collaborating with paraprofessionals, nurses, and related service providers
- Successful fingerprint clearance through TEA for public school employment, if not already completed
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and small group rotations in a self-contained environment
- Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Foster inclusion by supporting student participation in campus-wide activities such as art, PE, and lunch
- Effectively manage diverse student needs with compassion and structure
- Engage proactively with families and support staff to enhance student success
