Special Education Teacher | Minneapolis, Minnesota

Make an impact as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive, high-need environment near Minneapolis, MN. This contract opportunity runs from August 31, 2026, through June 4, 2027, offering the chance to guide and inspire young learners in a center-based Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) classroom for K–2 students. In this full-time role, you’ll work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, supporting approximately six students in a high-support setting where your expertise will directly shape their educational journey and daily experience.
Qualifications/Experience Sought:
- Current Minnesota Special Education Teaching License required
- EBD licensure highly desirable
- Direct experience working with students exhibiting significant behavioral needs
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Proficiency with behavior intervention strategies, de-escalation, and consultative support within a classroom
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach with educational teams
- Prior experience in Level 3 behavior settings strongly prioritized
Preferred Background:
- K–2 center-based classroom experience
- Knowledge of PBIS, CPI, or restorative practices
- Trauma-informed teaching techniques
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional leadership and hands-on classroom support
- Guide students with diverse behavioral and emotional needs, utilizing evidence-based interventions
- Collaborate with support staff, families, and specialists to optimize student outcomes
- Develop, monitor, and adjust IEPs and BIPs in partnership with educational teams
