Step into a dynamic, rewarding opportunity supporting students as a long-term Special Education Teacher Substitute. This contract-based role, located near Minneapolis, MN, offers you the chance to positively impact elementary and high school learners across a variety of settings. Full-time hours (approximately 35 hours per week) provide ample engagement and stability. Assignments range from 12 to 20 weeks in resource rooms, as well as year-long opportunities in specialized DCD and ASD classrooms. Take inspiration from a variety of caseloads, with settings in both elementary and high school environments, and contribute meaningfully through each unique assignment.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Minnesota Special Education license (SPED), open to all tiers and substitute licenses
- Strong commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs
- Experience in facilitating individualized educational programs (IEPs)
- Ability to adapt to different classroom environments, resource rooms, and specialized settings (DCD, ASD, EBD)
- Effective communicator and team player, collaborating with staff and families
- Reliable and professional, ready to provide continuity for both short-term and long-term assignments
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and adapt lesson plans for varying special education classrooms (elementary & high school)
- Deliver effective instruction and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Monitor, record, and report student progress according to IEP goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers and paraprofessionals for the best student outcomes
- Communicate progress with families and attend scheduled meetings
- Uphold district policies, integrating seamlessly into multiple school sites and assignments
