Special Education Teacher | Naperville, Illinois
Step into a dynamic role providing essential support as a Special Education Teacher in an onsite elementary classroom setting. This contract opportunity runs from August 2026 through May 2027, offering a full-time, 35-hour workweek. You’ll be instrumental in guiding a small group within a structured environment, tailored for high-incidence needs at the elementary level. With a caseload of five students and support from two paraeducators, this classroom thrives on teamwork, adaptability, and dedication to student growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement is required
- Experience in Special Education, especially in structured or self-contained classrooms
- Skilled at implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior strategies
- Comfortable assisting with toileting as needed and responding calmly to challenging behaviors
- Collaborative mindset to effectively coordinate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and school teams
- Ability to foster inclusive and engaging learning environments for students with high-incidence disabilities
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and differentiated support to students with varied learning profiles
- Develop, monitor, and report on IEP goals and progress
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals to maintain a positive, structured classroom dynamic
- Support students in daily routines, including adaptive behavior management and self-care
- Communicate regularly with families and team members to ensure continuity of care and learning
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development as needed
