Make a meaningful impact as an itinerant Special Education Teacher, providing vital support in classrooms throughout Carbon and Lehigh Counties. This contract position follows the school year calendar and offers a unique opportunity for dedicated educators to serve students across various sites, covering temporary absences and extended leaves within the region.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold an active Pennsylvania teaching license.
- Possess a current PA PDE Certification: Experience-Based Certificate in Special Education PK-12, and/or Instructional I or II Certificate in the appropriate Special Education subject areas.
- Demonstrated success working with students in special education settings.
- Hands-on experience with IEP development and implementation.
- Proof of licensure and certification must be provided via TIMS.
- Must be available for in-person instruction only.
Role Overview:
- Serve as an itinerant Special Education Teacher across Carbon or Lehigh County, as assigned.
- Cover faculty absences at multiple sites; when not substituting, support instruction in one of the IU’s classrooms.
- Take on extended assignments, stepping into roles for extended leaves or vacations as needed.
- Collaborate with school teams to ensure continuity in educational plans and accommodations.
- Engage in daily travel within a designated geographic area, providing consistent and meaningful support to diverse student populations.
Assignment Details:
- Weekly schedule: 35 hours.
- Contract runs from August 10, 2026, to June 11, 2027 (tentative, follows school calendar).
- Two positions in Carbon County, two in Lehigh County.
