Two full-time opportunities are available for certified Special Education Teachers to provide essential services to grades 3–5. These in-person roles focus on either a Social Emotional Behavioral Classroom or a Functional Classroom. Qualifications:
- Active Connecticut Special Education Teacher Certification (required)
- Experience teaching or supporting students in special education settings, preferably in grades 3–5
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and compliance
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills when working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to adapt instruction based on student needs and behavioral plans
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and individualized support for students with a range of learning and behavioral needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for assigned students, ensuring appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Create a safe, supportive classroom environment for social-emotional and academic growth
- Collaborate with related service providers, general educators, and classroom assistants
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with school and legal requirements
- Participate in parent meetings, staff meetings, and professional development, as assigned
Assignment Details:
- Positions available at two elementary schools serving grades 3–5: one in a Social Emotional Behavioral Classroom (now through October, with possible extension), the other in a Functional Classroom (December to early March, with possible extension)
- Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday–Friday, 8:20 am–3:40 pm
- In-person instruction only
