Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join an elementary school in New York, NY. This position offers a supportive work environment, a very small caseload, and ample planning time to help ensure student success.
Schedule
- Full-Time: Monday–Friday, 7:15 AM – 4:15 PM
- Part-Time candidates will be considered but must be available Monday–Friday for half-day schedules.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction and support to elementary-aged students with mild to moderate disabilities.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
- Support student academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.
- Perform all other typical special education teaching duties as assigned.
Caseload & Support
- Elementary school setting
- Mild to moderate student population
- Very small caseload
- Daily 90-minute prep period
- Daily 45-minute lunch break
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid New York State Special Education Teaching License
- Certification in Grades 1–6
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
