Step into an impactful role shaping young lives as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year, working full time from August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027. This contract opportunity is located near Norlina, NC, and focuses on supporting a dedicated group of middle school students with mild to moderate needs in a self-contained classroom setting.

As part of your daily responsibilities, you will manage a caseload of 12 students in one of three self-contained classrooms, providing individualized instruction and support. Your schedule runs Monday through Friday, 7:15 am to 3:15 pm, offering structure and consistency for both you and your students.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Current state certification in Special Education; eligibility to teach grades 6–8 preferred
  • Previous experience teaching students with mild to moderate disabilities in self-contained settings
  • Strong classroom management and differentiation skills
  • Ability to collaborate with instructional teams, therapists, and families
  • Understanding of IEP processes, progress monitoring, and compliance documentation
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment tailored to each student

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans based on IEP goals
  • Adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet individualized learning objectives
  • Track academic and behavioral progress, providing regular updates to families and support staff
  • Work collaboratively during IEP meetings and with related service providers
  • Maintain accurate records to ensure state and federal compliance
  • Foster positive relationships to encourage student confidence and growth
