Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting a vibrant school community near Norlina, NC. This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027, working Monday through Friday from 7:15am to 3:15pm. You'll work closely with a dedicated group of 12 middle school students in a mild to moderate self-contained setting.
Ideal candidates are passionate educators skilled in fostering growth, building relationships, and creating structured, supportive classrooms. You'll be assigned to one of several exceptional children's (EC) roles, including EC Middle School Teacher and EC Self-Contained Classroom settings.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field
- Current teaching license with Special Education endorsement (or eligibility for licensure in North Carolina)
- Experience working with mild to moderate disabilities in a self-contained classroom environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, families, and students
- Proficiency in IEP development, progress monitoring, and implementing behavioral and academic interventions
- Commitment to inclusive practices and differentiated instruction
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct classroom instruction and individualized support to a caseload of 12 middle school students
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices
- Maintain an organized classroom that encourages student participation and skill-building
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support holistic student development
- Communicate regularly with families and staff regarding student progress and needs
- Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives
