Special Education Teacher - Norlina, North Carolina
Passionate about helping students with diverse needs reach their full potential? This full-time contract opportunity is designed for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students with mild to moderate needs in a well-structured, collaborative school setting. You’ll have the chance to make an impact across different classrooms, working closely with students, staff, and support teams.
Your teaching day runs from 7:15am – 3:15pm, Monday through Friday, for the academic year beginning August 13, 2026 and concluding June 3, 2027. You’ll manage a caseload of 12 self-contained middle or high school students, with opportunities to support both intensive needs and inclusion settings. Additional responsibilities include mentoring a small group of grades 6–8 students at an adjacent STEM school, fostering continuity of support throughout the campus.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility) required
- Previous experience with resource classroom settings, managing IEPs, and collaborating on student plans is strongly preferred
- Skilled in working with students demonstrating a wide range of academic, behavioral, and learning needs
- Demonstrates effective classroom management and positive behavior intervention strategies
- Comfortable adapting curriculum and instruction to meet varied learning profiles
- Strong communication skills for partnering with general education staff and families
- Background in English language instruction is a bonus for inclusion high school roles, though not required

- Develop, implement, and monitor student IEPs
- Foster an engaging, supportive, and safe classroom community
- Provide tailored support to small groups and individuals, ensuring accommodations and modifications are met
