Make a meaningful impact supporting students with developmental cognitive disabilities in an elementary setting as a dedicated special education teacher. This full-time, onsite contract position offers the opportunity to work directly with a small caseload, individualizing instruction and contributing to a supportive school community for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Teaching Certification—must be Tier 3 or Tier 4 (attach certification and resume for consideration)
- Previous experience or training as a Special Education Teacher, preferably supporting students with developmental cognitive disabilities (DCD)
- Strong skills in differentiating instruction and creating engaging IEP-driven lessons
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation abilities
- Ability to foster a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment for all learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support and individualized programming for approximately 9 students with DCD at the elementary level
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary team members
- Adapt curriculum and classroom management strategies to ensure every student’s progress and inclusion
- Maintain organized and thorough records, meeting all state and district compliance requirements
- Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families to ensure a successful learning experience
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and parent conferences as required
This role involves a schedule of 37.5 hours each week, Monday through Friday, on-site at the elementary school. Hours are approximately 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
