Make a difference every day as a Special Education Teacher at a dynamic educational setting near Painted Post, NY. This in-person contract role runs from early September through late October, offering a rewarding opportunity to support students in grades 11-12 at the Wildwood location in Hornell. You’ll play a key role helping students with emotional disabilities achieve academic and personal growth during this 6-8 week assignment.
Qualifications:
- Active New York State Special Education Teaching license
- Appropriate endorsements and certifications required for assigned grade level
- Demonstrated experience working with high school students with emotional disabilities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Flexibility and adaptability in a changing school environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to students in accordance with IEPs
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with fellow educators, therapists, and families to support students’ success
- Document student progress, behaviors, and outcomes consistently
- Utilize de-escalation techniques and positive behavioral supports as needed
- Participate in ongoing professional development and staff meetings
