Special Education Teacher in Pelham, AL

Class sizes are purposefully kept small, typically 4-6 students per room, ensuring everyone receives personal attention and guidance.
Key Experience & Requirements:
- Valid SPED licensure required for Alabama; elementary teachers must hold a K-6 endorsement, and secondary teachers must have 6-12. (Please confirm with the Alabama teacher certification site.)
- Prior experience in self-contained or similar classroom environments is preferred.
- Comfortable collaborating with a range of education professionals and paraprofessionals.
- Adaptable in developing and implementing IEPs tailored to each student’s abilities.
- Passion for fostering inclusion, social development, and academic growth.
Role Highlights:
- Positions available for both elementary (38) and high school (13) self-contained classrooms; elementary roles are a priority.
- Manage a caseload with an emphasis on daily engagement, individualized instruction, and assessment.
- 37.5-hour work weeks, contract running from early August through late May.
- Participate in onsite interviews at the district campus in Birmingham.
- Support students’ communication and life skills alongside academic objectives.
