Make a difference in the lives of high school students by supporting diverse learning needs through a cross-categorical model. We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a contract assignment, focusing on high school students with a variety of mild-to-moderate disabilities. This role involves delivering individualized instruction and fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere, working from August 18, 2026, to June 10, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Wisconsin Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher certification (License #2801) required
- Experience supporting students with autism
- Knowledge of strategies for addressing multiple mild-to-moderate disabilities in one classroom, including learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, and intellectual disabilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Commitment to educational equity and inclusive education practices
Responsibilities:
- Deliver cross-categorical instruction to high school students, meeting varied academic and behavioral needs
- Adapt curricula and teaching methods to individual learning styles and IEP goals
- Create an engaging, positive, and supportive classroom environment
- Collaborate with general education staff, counselors, and support personnel to ensure student success
- Maintain detailed records and documentation in compliance with state and federal requirements
- Communicate progress regularly with parents, caregivers, and team members
