Special Education Teacher | Rifle, Colorado
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of students with mild to moderate needs. This full-time role, based onsite near Rifle, CO, will run from August 17, 2026, through June 3, 2027, offering the chance to help students thrive academically and personally throughout the school year.
Two positions are available to serve either a middle school caseload (grades 6–8) or a high school caseload (grades 9–12). Each teacher will work with approximately 25–30 students, providing individualized support in a structured onsite setting. Whether your passion lies in guiding younger adolescents or mentoring older teens, your contribution will be integral to their educational journey.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Colorado Teaching License (required)
- Special Education (SPED) Endorsement required
- Experience or strong comfort level in working with students exhibiting mild to moderate behaviors
- Willingness and ability to assist with toileting needs as necessary
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, working alongside multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students
- Adapt and deliver curriculum to meet diverse learner needs
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
- Monitor and document student progress, utilizing data-driven approaches
- Collaborate with regular classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Engage with families, advocating for student success and communicating progress
