Special Education Teacher | Saint Paul, Minnesota
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity guiding high school students in a supportive and structured educational setting. This role, beginning in September 2026 and continuing through Thanksgiving, seeks an experienced Special Education Teacher eager to make a positive impact on learners’ academic growth and personal development.
Working full time with a schedule of 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, you will provide critical instruction to a caseload of approximately 16–20 students, focusing on reading intervention and executive functioning skills. Your expertise will help students excel in study skills, academic organization, and learning strategies. Collaboration is key, as you’ll work closely with general education teachers and support teams to ensure every student’s needs are met.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- Successful completion of a state-approved teacher preparation program in special education
- Valid Minnesota teaching license through the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board
- Competency in Standards of Effective Practice and Special Education core skills
- Specific licensure area (e.g., Learning Disabilities, ABS, EBD)
- Student teaching or practicum experience
Preferred Experience:
- Previous work with high school-aged students
- Background in reading intervention and executive functioning support
- Strong understanding of IEP development and compliance
- Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instruction in reading and executive functioning
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring compliance with all requirements
- Foster positive academic and organizational habits in students
- Partner with staff to support student achievement and well-being
