Special Education Teacher in Saint Paul, MN

This full-time contract position is available for the 2026-2027 academic year, focusing on serving students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a Setting 3 classroom environment. You'll work with a manageable group of approximately 6-10 students within one building, fostering growth and skill development throughout the school year.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Minnesota teaching license, Tier 3 or Tier 4, with an endorsement in ASD or DCD (required)
- Demonstrates commitment to individualized instruction and inclusive educational practices
- Experience or enthusiasm for working with students with significant cognitive and developmental needs
- Strong collaboration skills to coordinate with classroom support staff and related service providers
- Excellent communication abilities with students, families, and colleagues
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver tailored lesson plans to address individual learning goals in accordance with students’ IEPs
- Foster a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
- Progress monitor and document growth, adapting instruction as needed
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive support for every learner
- Communicate regularly with families, building strong partnerships for student success
