Special Education Teacher | Saint Paul, Minnesota
An exciting opportunity awaits special education professionals seeking to make an impact in diverse school environments near Saint Paul, MN. Multiple contract roles are available, including both full-time and part-time positions across different grade levels, with a possible early childhood opening that combines classroom support and at-home visits.
Openings span across RiverEast Day School and Highland Park Middle School, each serving caseloads of around 20 students and supported by a strong team of paraprofessionals and behavioral aides. Additional positions are available at Highland Park Elementary, with flexible scheduling options from 2-3 days per week. The contract runs through the end of the academic year, providing stability and continuity for students and staff.
Applicants must hold an active Minnesota teaching license in special education and display a commitment to fostering positive, inclusive learning environments. The variety of needs allows for a range of experience levels, from early childhood specialists to those comfortable with older students and classroom management.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Minnesota teaching license in special education (required)
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including those with behavioral, emotional, and/or academic support needs
- Ability to collaborate with a team, including paras and behavioral aides
- Strong communication skills for interacting with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams
- For the early childhood position: willingness and ability to conduct home visits as part of service delivery
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students’ unique needs
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, support staff, and administration
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Engage with families through conferences and, when relevant, home visits
