Special Education Teacher | Schenectady, New York

A dynamic school program seeks dedicated Special Education professionals to join their preschool team, working in both integrated and self-contained classrooms that nurture children ages 3 to 5. This is a full-time, direct hire role following school year calendars as well as a six-week summer program.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and carry out Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student in your caseload.
- Work closely with speech, occupational, and physical therapy providers to design integrated, student-centered instruction.
- Ensure all classroom activities align with New York State Next Generation Learning Standards.
- Supervise and mentor classroom support staff to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
- Participate actively in professional development workshops and training sessions to further refine your skills and approaches.
Qualifications:
- Current New York State Certification in Special Education or Students with Disabilities (Birth to Grade 2) is required.
- Prior experience working with preschool-aged children in special education settings preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Solid understanding of IEP processes and commitment to individualized student support.
This position is based at Clifton Park and Fort Edward sites, with regular hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. You’ll have the unique chance to help shape early education for a diverse group of learners in both integrated (18 students) and self-contained (12 students) settings.
