Ideal candidates possess:
- An active Pennsylvania teaching license
- Current PA PDE Certification (Experience-Based Certificate in Special Education PK-12, Instructional I, and/or Instructional II Certificate in appropriate Special Education subject areas)
- Proven experience supporting students in special education settings
- Comprehensive knowledge of the IEP process, including development and implementation
- Commitment to in-person instruction (remote work is not available)
- Flexibility to travel throughout either Carbon or Lehigh counties
- Availability to work a 35-hour week during the school year, following the academic calendar (August 2026 – June 2027)
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing coverage for short-term and long-term absences within the designated geographic area
- Delivering quality instruction and facilitating learning for students with diverse needs
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and participating in IEP meetings
- Adapting to a variety of classroom settings and student groups
- Substituting within IU classrooms when not assigned to a specific absence
- Ensuring that student learning objectives and support plans are met daily
