Make a meaningful impact supporting students with diverse learning needs as an itinerant Special Education Teacher in Carbon and Lehigh counties. This contract opportunity involves providing coverage for absences across multiple sites and stepping in as needed for classroom instruction or extended assignments throughout the school year. With hours totaling 35 per week, you’ll collaborate closely with educational staff and support students' progress in dynamic environments.
Qualifications:
- In-person availability required.
- Current Pennsylvania teaching license.
- Active PA PDE certification: Experience-Based Certificate in Special Education PK-12, Instructional I, or Instructional II Certificate in relevant Special Education areas.
- Demonstrated experience working in special education settings.
- Background in participating with IEP development, review, and implementation.
- Reliable transportation to commute within assigned county (Carbon or Lehigh).
- Submission must include proof of licensure and PA PDE certification via TIMS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as an itinerant special education teacher covering planned and unplanned absences in classrooms throughout Carbon or Lehigh county.
- Step in for extended absences, such as extended leave or vacations, as needed.
- When not actively subbing, assist in one of the IU’s classrooms for the day, ensuring uninterrupted support for students.
- Collaborate with school staff and administration to maintain continuity and quality of instruction.
- Adapt quickly to diverse classroom environments and student needs.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to student IEP planning and progress reporting.
This role follows the school calendar (tentatively 08/10/2026 – 06/11/2027), offering the opportunity to work closely with committed professionals and make a daily difference for students.
