Special Education Teacher - Shelby, North Carolina

In this contract role, you'll work closely with a small, manageable caseload—just six students—alongside two experienced paraprofessionals. Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid North Carolina SPED license required
- Background in Special Education teaching, particularly with behavioral needs or self-contained classes
- Comfortable guiding paraprofessionals within the classroom
- Strong communication skills and collaborative approach
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to elementary-aged students in a self-contained behavior class
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Create and maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment
- Work closely with two classroom paraprofessionals to support student learning and behavioral growth
- Collaborate with families, school staff, and other support professionals to ensure holistic student development
- Track student progress and adjust educational strategies as needed
