Special Education Teacher - South Boston, VA

What you’ll bring:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (appropriate for elementary grades)
- Knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs), differentiated instruction, and behavioral management techniques
- Previous experience working with elementary-age students in a special education setting preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills to partner effectively with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Ability to foster a nurturing and structured classroom environment
- Adaptability and enthusiasm for working with diverse learning styles and needs
Your responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction for life skills and academic content in grades K-5, utilizing evidence-based strategies
- Manage a classroom with ten or fewer students, with paraprofessionals available for instruction and support
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized plans and goals to ensure student progress and success
- Utilize data to modify instruction, track progress, and communicate with families and staff
- Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their independence, confidence, and social skills
- Collaborate with general education teachers, resource staff, and administration to promote inclusion and access
