Special Education Teacher in Stillwater, MN
Make an immediate impact as a Special Education Teacher in a high-support behavioral classroom for a K–2 elementary setting. This is a full-time contract position offering a rewarding role in an Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) classroom (approx. 6 students), ideal for educators passionate about making a difference for students with significant behavioral needs. The assignment spans the academic year from late August through early June, offering a consistent Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Candidates should possess an active Minnesota Special Education Teaching License, with EBD licensure strongly preferred. In this position, you'll exercise your expertise in behavior intervention, individualized education planning, and positive behavioral supports, while collaborating daily with a dedicated team of specialists.
Qualifications:
- Active Minnesota Special Education Teaching License
- Strong preference for EBD licensure
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with significant behavioral challenges
- Skilled in developing and implementing IEPs and BIPs
- Adept in behavior intervention, de-escalation, and classroom consultation
- Commitment to team communication and collaborative problem-solving
- Experience in Level 3 (center-based) behavior settings highly prioritized
Preferred Experience:
- Prior work in K–2 center-based special education classrooms
- Familiarity with PBIS, CPI, and restorative practices
- Trauma-informed instructional approaches
Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional leadership in a high-support classroom
- Design and deliver individualized and group instruction
- Implement effective behavioral interventions
- Collaborate on IEP and BIP development and review
- Foster a safe, positive environment conducive to learning
