Special Education Teacher | Strongsville, Ohio

You’ll be based in a single building, supporting two specialized classrooms. One assignment involves serving a small class (9-12) of students with multiple disabilities, including those who are non-verbal and have physical impairments. The other focuses on a group of 10-15 students with emotional disabilities, requiring expertise with behavioral intervention plans (BIPs), social-emotional learning strategies, and crisis intervention.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid and current special education teaching license required
- Experience with MD (multiple disabilities) and/or autism spectrum disorders highly preferred
- Skilled working with non-verbal students and implementing augmentative communication supports
- Familiarity with physical impairment accommodations
- Knowledge of best practices for educating students with emotional disabilities, including BIPs and crisis intervention techniques
- Comfortable collaborating with classroom aides, therapists, and related service providers
- Ability to foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment and differentiate instruction
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective IEPs tailored to individual student needs
- Provide direct instruction and modify curriculum for diverse learners
- Manage classroom behavior and apply positive reinforcement strategies
- Document progress and communicate regularly with families and staff
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure whole-child support
