Special Education Teacher - Sylva, NC
Embark on an impactful school-year assignment as a skilled Special Education Teacher, supporting exceptional learners in a dedicated educational setting. This opportunity is available for the full 2026-2027 school year and involves working with OCS (Occupational Course of Study) students on specialized diploma tracks at both the middle and high school levels.
Responsibilities include leading and managing IEP meetings, coordinating services, and ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines. You'll have the opportunity to mentor and guide four high school and six middle school learners, each on their journey toward academic success and future independence. Your expertise will play a vital role in creating differentiated instruction and meaningful learning experiences tailored to each student's individual pathway.
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
- Current and valid Special Education certification
- Experience working with OCS or students on a specialized diploma path
- Strong organizational skills to plan, run, and document IEPs and related meetings
- Ability to collaborate with general educators, related service providers, and families
- Proficiency in adapting curriculum and instructional strategies for diverse learners
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
