Online Special Education Teacher in SD

Opportunity available for a Special Education Paraeducator supporting students in a special education setting. This contract role is based in Summit, South Dakota, providing dedicated in-class assistance and one-on-one support within resource rooms. The assignment runs immediately through May 22, 2025, with a schedule of Monday through Friday at 32 hours per week at a single school location.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting students with disabilities during classroom activities, following lesson plans provided by the lead teacher
• Providing individualized support in both inclusive and resource room settings
• Collaborating with the classroom teacher and behavior support team to promote a positive learning environment
• Supporting classroom management and student engagement to meet educational goals

Qualifications and desired experience:

• High school diploma or GED required in accordance with South Dakota regulations
• Experience working in special education or related paraeducator roles preferred
• Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed teacher and coordinate with behavior specialists
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with students and staff
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to school policies
