Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary students requiring specialized instruction. This full-time, on-site position begins as soon as possible and runs through late May 2027, aligning with the school year calendar. Working in a supportive environment, you’ll collaborate with a paraprofessional to provide individualized education for a self-contained classroom of 12 students from kindergarten through fifth grade, including those with autism and varying personal care needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid educator certification in special education
- Experience working with elementary-aged students (K–5), especially in a self-contained setting
- Comfortable supporting students with autism and personal care needs, including toileting assistance
- Able to provide current images/copies of required licenses and certifications upon request
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Responsibilities:
- Lead classroom instruction, adapting curriculum for diverse learning needs and abilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs (Individualized Education Programs)
- Collaborate closely with the paraprofessional to support student progress and safety
- Maintain a structured, compassionate classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams
- Document student performance, track progress, and update records as needed
- Participate in meetings, training, and professional development relevant to special education
