Special Education Teacher | Thornton, Colorado
Make a meaningful impact supporting young learners as a bilingual Early Childhood Special Education professional in a dynamic school environment. This contract opportunity involves collaborating with a dedicated team to provide essential services across multiple elementary campuses, with responsibilities ranging from hands-on instruction to conducting district-wide evaluations.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education Teaching License with Early Childhood Special Education endorsement
- Bilingual proficiency, enabling effective communication with diverse student and family populations
- Experience working with preschool and early elementary students in special education settings
- Familiarity with conducting bilingual Child Find evaluations or willingness to be trained
- Ability to travel between schools as needed for case management and evaluation tasks
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive bilingual Child Find evaluations at designated school and district locations
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans for early childhood students with special needs
- Collaborate with psychologists, teachers, families, and evaluation teams to ensure comprehensive support for each child
- Serve multiple schools, including North Star Elementary and Centennial Elementary, and participate in district-wide projects
- Complete timely and accurate documentation in accordance with state and district guidelines
- Fulfill all credentialing and compliance requirements prior to assignment start
This position offers a robust and rewarding professional experience in a supportive educational environment, working closely with families and teams dedicated to early intervention and inclusion. The contract is full-time with a schedule of 37.5 hours per week, starting as soon as credentialing is completed and continuing through May 21, 2027.
