Special Education Teacher - Torrance, California

An exciting contract opportunity is available for a skilled Special Education Teacher specializing in Mod/Severe or ESN instruction. This position runs from August 17, 2026, through June 9, 2027, and is based in Santa Monica. The role centers on supporting elementary students with a caseload of 10, working closely with several instructional aides or paraprofessionals in the classroom. With set hours from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm totaling 37.5 hours per week, this assignment allows meaningful engagement with students in a supportive educational environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Must possess an active California Education Specialist Credential in Moderate/Severe or Extensive Support Needs (ESN)
- Previous experience working with elementary students in special education settings preferred
- Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with support staff and contribute to a positive learning atmosphere
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement individualized instructional programs for students with moderate to severe needs
- Develop IEPs and monitor student progress towards goals
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to ensure comprehensive support
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
- Supervise and guide instructional aides to optimize student success
