Special Education Teacher in Torrance, CA

Make a meaningful difference by providing specialized educational support as an in-home tutor for students in El Segundo, CA during the 26/27 school year. This contract position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Special Education Teacher with CA Mild/Moderate credentials looking to work part-time and create a positive impact in a personalized learning environment.
You’ll work directly with a male student entering the 9th grade, providing 5 hours of tailored instruction per week across two homes. The specific schedule is flexible, with session times negotiated to best fit the needs of both the student and tutor.
Qualifications:
- Active California Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Credential (required)
- Prior experience in special education, ideally in home or one-on-one settings
- Familiarity with mild/moderate caseloads and individualized instruction
- Ability to build rapport and foster student engagement
- Strong communication skills with families and support teams
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding professional standards
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the student's IEP goals
- Adapt teaching strategies to fit individual learning styles and needs
- Track student progress and maintain thorough documentation
- Collaborate with families and district staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience
- Create a safe and supportive in-home learning environment
