Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching credential (or eligibility for one)
- Experience working with middle school students in a special education setting, particularly moderate to severe disabilities
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and support staff
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills
- Experience with behavior management and differentiated instruction
- Passion for fostering an inclusive, supportive, and positive classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, adapt, and implement individualized education plans for students within a self-contained SDC classroom
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to facilitate student growth
- Maintain accurate records, document progress, and participate in IEP meetings
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and behavior supports
- Create a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom that promotes learning and independence
- Monitor, assess, and report student progress toward academic and social-emotional goals
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities
