Make a difference as a Special Education Teacher Consultant supporting middle school students and staff in an engaging educational environment. This contract opportunity runs from August 31, 2026, through June 11, 2027, offering 36.25 hours per week (8:05 AM–3:05 PM, with a 15-minute duty period before or after the school day). The role centers on providing critical support for Special Education programs, fostering collaboration, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Michigan Teaching Certificate with SM, SE, SA, or SV endorsement (required)
- Teacher Consultant Approval OR a minimum of 3 years of successful Special Education teaching experience in Michigan (required)
- In-depth understanding of IDEA, MARSE, and the IEP process
- Experience supporting IEPs, 504s, METs, initial and re-evaluations, MTSS, and progress monitoring
- Excellent communication and consultative skills for effective collaboration with teachers, families, administrators, and service teams
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional consultation and guidance to middle school staff and students in Special Education settings
- Support the development and implementation of IEPs and 504 Plans, participate in evaluation and eligibility meetings, and track student progress
- Assist in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, delivering targeted interventions and behavioral supports
- Ensure district compliance with all relevant state and federal Special Education regulations
- Collaborate closely with educators, support staff, and families to improve educational outcomes
