Qualifications:
- Current Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for secondary grades
- Commitment to Rhode Island’s “Right to Read Act”—possess, or willingness to earn, Structured Literacy proficiency within one year of hire
- Experience working with high school-age students with EBD or severe behavioral concerns
- Deep understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and classroom management techniques tailored for sub-separate or self-contained settings
- Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach and support high school students in a self-contained environment, focusing on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain a structured, positive classroom atmosphere using specialized behavioral strategies
- Collaborate with related service providers, administrators, and families for comprehensive student support
- Document progress and adapt instruction to meet evolving student needs
- Participate in professional development and contribute to a supportive school community
