Special Education Teacher in Warwick, RI

Key Qualifications:
- Active Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license in the targeted grade band (Secondary required)
- Commitment to Right to Read Act Compliance: Certified in, or willingness to complete, Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency within the first year
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or severe behavioral challenges, preferably in a self-contained or sub-separate classroom
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
- Create a structured, supportive classroom environment tailored to students requiring intensive interventions
- Employ effective strategies and interventions to manage and support challenging behaviors
- Collaborate with school teams to ensure progress and compliance with state/federal regulations
- Foster strong relationships with students, promoting resilience and self-advocacy
- Guide classroom aides and support staff to enhance instructional outcomes
