Special Education Teacher | Warwick, Rhode Island
Embark on an impactful assignment as a Special Education Teacher supporting a vibrant group of learners in an elementary setting. This contract opportunity runs from mid-October to mid-January, providing coverage during a maternity leave for a dynamic special education classroom focused on high-functioning life skills. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:15am to 3:45pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
In this role, you'll work closely with approximately eight students, supported by three teaching assistants to help foster growth, independence, and confidence in daily living and academic skills. This is a rewarding chance to make a tangible difference within a close-knit school community.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Active Special Education Educator Certificate required
- Experience teaching in a special education or life skills classroom strongly preferred
- Strong ability to collaborate with teaching assistants and other school professionals
- Excellent organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
- Passion for supporting diverse learning styles and abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans and instructional activities
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture tailored to a high-functioning group
- Supervise and collaborate with team of teaching assistants
- Monitor student progress, adjusting approaches as needed for student development
- Communicate regularly with parents, colleagues, and support staff
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students during all classroom activities
