Special Education Teacher in Waterbury, CT

This full-time contract position begins as soon as possible and continues through June 11, 2027, offering the chance to impact learners across K-12. With 35 hours per week, you'll collaborate within a supportive team environment and have opportunities to work in Pathways programs serving students with multiple disabilities, KEY programs supporting learners on the autism spectrum, and inclusive classrooms.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Special Education (SPED) licensure and certification in Connecticut required
- Demonstrated school-based experience working with a diverse student population
- Familiarity with supporting students in both self-contained and inclusive settings
- Experience or strong interest in working within programs for multiple disabilities and autism encouraged
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
- Ability to provide professional references upon request
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instructional strategies in Pathways, KEY, and inclusion programs for K-12 learners
- Adapt curriculum and utilize specialized interventions based on individual education plans (IEPs)
- Foster a positive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment
- Work closely with fellow educators, families, and related service staff to optimize student success
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate case management documentation
- Contribute to ongoing professional learning and school initiatives
