Special Education Teacher in Waukegan, IL

Available positions include Life Skills Self-Contained and Instructional/Resource settings in a supportive school environment. This full-time, in-person contract role spans from August 17, 2026, through May 27, 2027, and will have you working approximately 33.25 hours per week.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Professional Educator License (PEL) required; please submit a copy of your PEL with your application
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher preferred
- Comfortable collaborating with colleagues, administration, and families
- Skilled in creating and modifying IEPs to ensure each student's progress
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and differentiated instruction
- Adaptable and self-motivated with a true passion for helping students succeed
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in either a Life Skills Self-Contained or Instructional/Resource classroom (please specify your preferred position in your application)
- Develop, implement, and review IEPs in accordance with district and state guidelines
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to address individual learning differences
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom atmosphere
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic education solutions
- Maintain accurate records and participate in parent-teacher conferences
