Special Education Teacher | Willimantic, Connecticut
Embark on a rewarding contract role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a Resource Room environment, located near Willimantic, CT. This full-time opportunity begins as soon as possible, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and runs through October 1, 2026—with a promising outlook for extension through the entire school year.
This position serves a caseload of approximately 10 students in grades 7–12, providing individualized support and instruction in a nurturing, collaborative school atmosphere. You'll have the chance to make a meaningful impact, working in a well-supported setting alongside dedicated professionals.
Qualifications and Required Experience:
- Current Connecticut Special Education certification for Grades 7–12
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is highly valued
- Strong communication, organization, and advocacy skills
- Ability to engage and connect with students at the secondary level
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and individualized support within a Resource Room setting
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals to meet student needs
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and progress reports
