Special Education Teacher in Wilmington, IL

Your role will focus on designing and implementing individualized instructional plans, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and fostering a supportive atmosphere that celebrates each student’s strengths and abilities. The position offers a consistent weekly schedule, with 35 - 37.5 hours per week.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Special Education (SPED) License required
- LBS1 endorsement necessary
- Current Professional Educator License (PEL) for Illinois
- Strong ability to adapt instruction and curriculum based on individual student needs
- Experience in living and learning classroom settings preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop, adapt, and deliver individualized education programs (IEPs) for students
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies tailored to a diverse student population
- Work collaboratively with general education staff, therapists, and families
- Monitor progress and document student growth according to district and state standards
- Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
- Participate in professional development and ongoing training as required
