Job Details
- Position: Special Education Teacher
- Location: Winnetka, IL (North Chicago Area)
- Schedule: Full-Time, 35 hours per week
- School Year: August 27, 2026 – June 11, 2027
- Work Schedule: Monday–Friday
- Breaks: 30-minute unpaid lunch and two unpaid 15-minute breaks
Caseload
- Grade Levels: Elementary (Kindergarten–4th Grade)
- Student Caseload: Approximately 8–12 students
- Classroom Model: Resource Program
- Pull-out instruction providing direct academic support
- Push-in services within general education classrooms
- Provide both academic intervention and social-emotional support to students with individualized education plans (IEPs)
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Deliver specialized instruction in a resource setting through both pull-out and push-in services
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Support students' academic achievement, social-emotional development, and behavioral goals
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaboration
- Foster an inclusive, positive, and engaging learning environment
Licensure Required:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with the appropriate Special Education endorsement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Orton-Gillingham training or certification preferred
- Experience with structured literacy programs such as:
- Orton-Gillingham
- SLANT
- Wilson Reading System
- Sonday System
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged students in a resource classroom preferred
