This rewarding contract opportunity focuses on delivering quality instruction to students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or significant behavioral challenges in a self-contained classroom setting. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated support team, using your skills to foster academic and social success from now through June 18, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license (Secondary level required)
- Compliance with the Right to Read Act: Structured Literacy proficiency (either certified now or willing to complete within one year of hire)
- Experience supporting high school students with EBD or significant behavioral needs in a specialized environment
- Strong communication and behavioral management skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans in partnership with staff and families
Responsibilities:
- Support students in a self-contained or sub-separate classroom, focusing on emotional, behavioral, and academic growth
- Deliver targeted instruction aligned with IEP goals and state standards
- Create and maintain a positive, structured classroom atmosphere tailored to students’ diverse needs
- Collaborate with related service providers, counselors, and families to ensure holistic student progress
- Monitor, document, and communicate student progress, exchanging feedback with the educational team
