About the Position
We are seeking a skilled Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction, academic support, and specialized services to students with disabilities while collaborating with families and multidisciplinary educational teams.
Job Duties
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs
- Provide specially designed instruction based on student needs
- Differentiate curriculum, instruction, and assessments
- Monitor academic, behavioral, and developmental progress
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary evaluations
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Implement positive behavioral interventions and classroom management strategies
- Provide accommodations and modifications outlined in student IEPs
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
- Ensure compliance with IDEA and Michigan special education regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with the appropriate Special Education endorsement for the assignment
- Completion of an approved Michigan educator preparation program
- Required clinical experiences, including student teaching
- Completion of applicable Michigan Test for Teacher Certification examinations
- Completion of required reading coursework
- Appropriate special education endorsement matching the student population and program served
- Knowledge of IDEA and Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Successful completion of required background screening and district onboarding requirements
